01. September 2012 · Comments Off on The Health Issues of Gloria are Ongoing. · Categories: Newsletters

We are currently in the States for some business and the health of Gloria.  She was admitted into the hospital in Manila in July,  because of an active amoeba that causes acute diaherrah and vomiting.  It was so sever that she was in danger to dehydrate.  While there, there were blood tests and the Doctor informed us that she had e-coli bacteria.  Because it was a U.S. strain, the Philippines only had a medication that had to be given by intravenous method.  So, it took 10 days to finish that.

Immediately after her dismissal, we returned to the U.S. for some other reasons but the health problems for Gloria continued. It has been determined that she needs to have her gall bladder removed.  Hopefully that will happen shortly and we can return to the Philipines by the end of this month.

01. September 2012 · Comments Off on We Have Changed our Financial Clearing House · Categories: Newsletters

September will be the last month that we will be using the BBF clearing house.  We have officially resigned as missionaries of the BBF.  As of October, all our finances will be channeled through International Baptist Missions (IBM) operated by our sending church, 1st Baptist Church of Meadowview, pastored by Dr. R.D.Wade, in Mesquite, Texas.  This has been our home church for almost 40 years.

It is important that we emphasize that our ministry is not changing. We are still working in the Philippines with the same men that we have been working with for the past 30+ years.  Our desire is to continue to do what God sent us there to do.  To plant churches. We are still working to train young people to be leaders in the ministry, including pastors and church workers.

As of next month, we enter 34 years as missionaries working in the Philippines.  We are now in the 32nd year training young people through the Bible Baptist Seminary of the Philippines.

This past 8 months have been found it necessary to be in the States, dealing with health issues.  Hopefully, when we return to the Philippines next month, those issues will be behind us.

Please continue to pray with us that our ministry will be effective to accomplsh Gods will.  If you would like to participate in our ministry through financial support, just contact us.

This is just a quick report of the progress of my treatments. I am entering the second half of the treatments and am anxious to see them finished.  There are some unusual feelings in my body, but nothing that is debilitating to me.

At the same time, much is going on in the Philippines in our ministry there.  We missed the camp this year.  Since the graduation of Bible Baptist Seminary is part of that occasion, we missed it also.  With the pictures and reports that we received, it was an outstanding camp again this year.

While we are here at Oak Lake Baptist Church in Houston, we have been involved as much as we can in the church.  It is my privilege to lead the music in the services of the church.  I would ask you to pray for the church, as it is in a transition of leadership and growth.

There is a poem that Texans like that is refering to the huge size of this State.  It is about driving across Texas.  It goes like this, “the sun has riz and the sun has set and here we are in Texas yet.

Because of the prostrate cancer, we are waiting here. Last week began the process of the radiation treatments. However, they were not able to fit me into their schedule until March 19th.  Therefore, here we are in Texas yet.

I am grateful to our son who is the Pastor of Oak Lake Baptist Church for allowing us to use the church mission house.  We are enjoying being with our grandkids also.

Gloria and I are miserable because we are missing the annual family camp, as well as the Bible School graduation.  In fact, we may not even be able to be back for the start of classes for the next school year in June.

A brand new year. A popular time for people to make resolutions and then make some attempt to keep for a time. But, generally the resolutions are forgotten and they just live their life as they did last year. However, some do make some changes and we have done that.

A few weeks ago, we decided to make a new web site. It is our desire to make it more informative and current. The name is www.fruitoftheministry.com. If you will go to this site on a regular basis, you will find much that is new and up to date. It is our intention to be informative of the events and activities, including pictures and videos of our ministry. So, check it often if you are curious about the work there.

Currently we are in Houston, making our plans to return to the Philippines. It has been a tremendous time for us to be in the States for a few weeks and spend time with our children and some supporting churches.

I guess you might notice that there are no more little ones. Time marches on. God is good to allow us the opportunity to spend time with them once in a while. But we are ready to return to the ministry and our tickets are for Feb 17th .

Thank you for the continued support of the work. Your part is valuable to the progress of our ministry.
